Recently at the Sephora Headquarters, we had a wellness day focused on reducing stress in our lives as we start 2020. It was also a day to learn about all the new, amazing wellness brands and products which have launched recently at Sephora. We also had a chance to meet some of the brand founders. For 2020, I’m planning lots of relaxing trips, self-care products and ways to wind down as my life can often be quite hectic. This wellness day was the perfect way to take a moment to relax and hear what some amazing well accomplished ladies have to say about managing stress & wellness.
Sephora have a relatively new category of wellness products which are all vetted by the merchandising team to ensure that only the best products sit on our shelves! I want to share with you some of the new products that I found out about during our wellness day and also give some top tips that I learnt at the wellness day.
Saint Jane
Saint Jane is a luxury CBD beauty company founded by the inspiring Casey Georgeson. The company is relatively new and ensures that only the best ingredients are formulated to create the most luxurious CBD products. Casey has had an impressive career from working on amazing teams such as Marc Jacobs, Disney for Sephora & Cupcake Vineyards. During the Wellness day, the Saint Jane team provided their hero luxury beauty serum which encourages balance from the skin to system. I have been using the serum at night and it is truly amazing! Saint Jane just launched at Sephora which is exciting news! The packaging of the products are on another level of luxury. The brand radiates wellness and calmness and is sure to be on my beauty shelves for some time to come.
Moon Juice
Moon Juice started off as a juice company in LA and quickly the brand founder, Amanda Chantal Bacon, realized that there was a need and a white space for something even bigger. She set about creating Super You, a daily stress management supplement. It is a blend of herbs that work together to address the effects of stress on the mind and the body. The potion works to normalize cortisol levels, reducing stress and increasing energy, mood and focus. Two capsules should be taken in the morning to set you up for the day. Another great product I learnt of was Magnesi-OM which is a powder substance which can be splashed into water each night or when you need to relax. Our bodies need magnesium to function well. Often, we can be deficient in magnesium leading to less than optimum reactions to stressful situations. This drink enhances feelings of calmness, reduces muscle aches, supports healthy brain function and improves mood.
Dr. Dennis Gross
Dr. Dennis Gross has just launched stress proof skin careproducts. When we are stressed, the body de-prioritizes skin which leaves it lacking nutrients, oxygen and blood flow. Dr. Dennis and his wife talked about the 5 signs of stress induced aging; worry lines on the forehead, red patches, dryness & dullness, flare ups & tired eyes. We can prevent lots of aging by reducing stress. Dr. Dennis Gross is a practicing doctor so has lots of experience first-hand in seeing his client’s skin patterns and issues. When he asks client’s to tell him about their skin, they usually link it back to something in their lives e.g. stressful move or new job. This has resulted in new products at Sephora specifically targeted at stress related aging. Included in the superfood range is a serum, face moisturizing cream & eye cream.
Tatcha
Vicky Tsai is the founder of San Francisco based clean beauty company, Tatcha. After working for large corporations for a decade, Vicky Tsai wanted some simplicity in her life. She began travelling to the East in order to find a more holistic approach to skincare. It was there during an encounter with a modern day geisha that helped in the founding of Tatcha. Tatcha work with scientists in Japan and the US to create luxurious and effective skincare with minimal ingredients. Tatcha believes that beauty begins in the heart and the mind. During the day, Vicky told of her rituals at night to aid with stress and her mental well-being. Each step in her skincare routine is a way to mentally prepare for rest and the next day. By cleansing, Vicky works to take off the day and any stresses or worries that may have been encountered. Vicky sees her skincare routine as restoring and practices renewal through each step of her skincare routine.
Nicole Lapin
Nicole Lapin appeared to have all her ducks in a row to the outside world. She was an award winning author, an anchor at 21 (the youngest anchor ever), a resume of dreams and many claims to fame. However, underneath it all she was struggling to be Superwoman. She had a serious life threatening breakdown and learnt the hard way from burnout. She has just released her 3rd book titled Becoming Super Woman (with a space & this space is key). You need to be a super woman or a hero for yourself unlike the Superwoman we all know who jumps to save everyone even when she is in danger or at risk herself. Nicole talks about putting on your oxygen mask before you help others and making sure that you make time to look after you. I’ve started the book and know it is going to be a great read. Nicole sets out 12 steps to becoming Super Woman with real life examples based on her own struggles.
All these brands & products are available at Sephora (except for Nicole’s book). The brands have a HUGE range of products that I have barely touched on! Lots more to come on Wellness this year. Until then, make sure you take time for you, whether it is a yoga class, walk with a friend, good book by the fire or a spa treatment.
