Top Travel Beauty Products & Beauty Travel Tips

April 7, 2019 Lorna Ryan
Lorna Ryan Travel Blogger San Francisco Travel Guide blogger Christmas

Travel & sunshine season is fast approaching and I am so excited. I have so many amazing trips planned from now thru to October which I am so excited for. There are top travel beauty products that I always pack for travelling & when going to sunny destinations. Here are my top travel beauty products & top travel beauty tips below.

Hydration mist – Caudalie Beauty Elixir or Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist

I swear by hydration mists. I am always spritzing away on the plane, mid day or if I feel my skin being dry. This is so important on flight as well as drinking lots of water. I highly recommend buying travel size, so you can pop in your bag and whisk out at any time to have a quick refresher and ensure that your skin is hydrated. Caudalie Beauty Elixir & Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist are my hero mists.

SPF face – Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop

It is so important for me to have lots of SPF and coverage on my face especially on holidays but year round in San Francisco. I love Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop which is really lightweight, glides on perfectly and is very silky. It is SPF40 and I apply as the last step in my skincare routine each morning.

SPF body - Super Power Sunscreen Mousse by Supergoop & Coppertone Clearly Sheer C-Sunscreen Spray

I need to apply sunscreen lots on holidays/vacation so I mix and match depending what I can find at the time. After a couple of applications when using some products, my skin can feel really layered in product so there are a couple of body sunscreens that are my go tos which feel light on my skin. I love Super Power Sunscreen Mousse by Supergoop & Coppertone Clearly Sheer C-Sunscreen Spray.

SPF mist –  AMOREPACIFIC Resort Collection Sun Protection Mist Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

I am really fair so as well as putting on my sunscreen on my face in the morning, I need top ups throughout the day. This handy spray allows me to quickly spritz throughout the day to make sure that I am protected and my hair won’t match the color of my face by sunset :) I recommend the travel size version so it’s easy to pop in your bag.

Cleansing mask – Ri na Mara Face Mask

Flights, sand, sea water, temperature changes, beach cocktails & sweet treats can leave skin feeling not so happy. Make sure you have a good cleansing mask with you on your holidays so you can pop it on before bedtime one night. Most masks take 5-10 minutes and your skin will thank you for it! My hero cleansing mask that I have been using for years is Ri na Mara. Read more about this amazing Irish brand HERE.

Hydration Mask – Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask

Because your skin needs lots of hydration during travel, after your cleaning mask, pop on a hydration mask for a couple of minutes or overnight and you will be glowing the next morning. One of my favorites is Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask.

After sun body moisturizing cream - Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream

Your skin needs hydration after long flights, swimming in the sea/pool or being out in the sun all day. I am obsessed with the smell of Sol de Janeiro products and highly recommend their bum bum cream to give you smooth, fabulous, summer skin!

Dry Shampoo - Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo is quite the miracle worker. Up to recently, I used to wash my hair too often. My hair dresser told me to stop and make dry shampoo my best friend. I love dry shampoo for giving me a quick touchup after flights or before I go on a night out. Amika dry shampoo smells incredible, doesn’t leave any residue and washes right out! This is also sold in smaller travel size so you can pop in your bag for on the go. The bottle also screams sunshine & holidays!

Hair mask – Sephora Collection Range

I have featured the Sephora Collection hair masks before on my blog and really do love them! I definitely switch out my hair care brands from time to time but always have a couple of these on reserve. I love that they come in travel handy packs so I can pop one or two in my bag and I am set. When I am on planes for hours or going from pool to the sea to the sun, my hair always needs some TLC so these are perfect for reviving quickly & overnight.

Waterproof mascara – Lancome Hypnose

I love the Lancome Hypnose Mascara for every day wear but when it comes to sunshine season, I love to swim so so much! I get all my exercise in this way when on holidays without even noticing that I am burning lots of calories. Lancome Hypnose is always one I pack as they do great travel sets when it comes to summer with minis that I can quickly pack and I’m all set.

Tan - Cocoa brown tan & Cocoa Brown mitt

I am ginger and Irish so at best, I get the slightest tan & lots of freckles. I love using Cocoa brown tan throughout the spring & summer months as it gives me such a healthy natural glow. The tan does not streak at all and is so easy to apply using the mitt. I use the medium one hour tan and leave it on for about 2 hours before washing off. I get a lovely color after 2 hours and it gradually washes off over a week or even longer. No scrubbing required! It’s an Irish brand that I have been using for years & years.

Hope you enjoyed my top beauty travel products. My beauty bag is obviously brimming with other great products while travelling but the above are my long time go-tos. Here are some top travel beauty tips for flying.

Top travel beauty tips in flight

  • Remove your make up if it is a long flight or wear no make up to the airport so your skin can breathe during the flight.

  • Drink lots of water on the flight to keep hydrated and also to keep your skin fresh & hydrated

  • ·Always carry your makeup and as much beauty products as you can in your carry on. Saves a LOT of expense and hassle if your checked in bag gets lost

  • Bring a beauty mist on flight and remember to spray mid-flight to hydrate

  • Buy some smaller travel products if you plan on taking a couple of trips together as will reduce what you need to bring e.g. mini shampoos, smaller eyeshadow palettes with colors that you will use during the trip, travel size cleanser. Saves checking a bag in some cases!

  • Get up and walk around to stretch your legs during the flight

  • Don’t say yes to all the snacks, sugary drinks & alcohol during the flight. Often, these foods are not the healthiest for our skin & bodies! Plan ahead and bring some fruit on the flight or a healthy snack.

Happy traveling & flying!

Some brands gift me some of the products mentioned above ongoing or once off. Although I was gifted products and work at the Sephora HQ in San Francisco, all opinions are my own.
