Beaumont Guest Ranch & Resort Review

This past weekend, I stayed at Beaumont Guest Ranch & Resort and had a relaxing, energizing weekend roaming the acres of green on beautiful horses. Beaumont Guest Ranch & Resort boasts 800 acres of rolling green fields and is a place of peace, relaxation & nature. The ranch is termed a “dude ranch” which means it is a working cattle ranch where guests can stay. The ranch is located about 45 minutes’ drive from Dallas and makes you feel as though you are miles upon miles away in the wilderness.

The historic, picturesque dude ranch opened its doors in 1997 and has been welcoming both local Texans and travelers from far away for over 20 years. I did so much research before picking this ranch and felt this was the best ranch which was a quick drive from Dallas. There are other ranches in Texas but are much further away from Dallas for a weekend getaway. The ranch grounds are so quaint and rustic. The Ranch sits on the old Chisolm Trail which was used in the post-Civil War era to drive cattle overland from Texas to Kansas railheads. The bedrooms are built into a western town structure which models Texas in the 1880’s when cowboys were driving their herds through the land. On the ranch, there are cattle, horses and much more wildlife to explore as you can roam freely through the 800 acres!

Accommodation

Beaumont Guest Ranch features rustic cabins and beautiful quaint bedrooms. Generally in ranches, the décor of the rooms is very basic and minimal but this is definitely one of the fancier ranches. The ranch is pretty small having only 26 rooms available. The rooms vary in size, bedding & feel so definitely check out the Gallery before booking and request the room you like if it is available. I stayed in the Heritage room which is a newly renovated green toned room which was incredibly cozy. My room was large, had a separate bath & toilet. My favorite part about the room was the porch outside which I sat on and read as the sun went down.

Horse riding

This was what I came for! The horse riding was brilliant here. Groups of 6 generally go on trail rides together. There were 4 of us on my ride and we were all experienced riders so didn’t have to walk along in single file. I have been on trail rides before and only wish to gallop off. We were able to go at our own pace and explore the rolling hills on this ride. One of my favorite feelings is riding fast along the beautiful greenery while enjoying the wild Texan country side. There are daily trail rides and you can add this to your stay for $50. Definitely book in advance when you reserve your room.

Other activities

Lots of other activities are offered at Beaumont Guest Ranch & Resort such as cattle drive & herding lessons, fishing, ATV extreme tours, ziplining, archery, shooting and more. Before you reserve your night’s stay, call to make sure they have availability in your activity as they often host large groups and events who part take in activities so they book up.

Dining

A buffet breakfast is served each morning in the Lonestar barn. The barn also serves dinner when there are no events. On the night I stayed, there was a private dinner there so the restaurant at the barn was not available for dining. There are some restaurants a 20-30 minute drive away but it is very rural so not lots of options. The resort let me know there was a private event when I was booking and I brought dinner from the city.

Getting there

I rented a car and drove one hour south from Dallas Love Field Airport. You can also fly into Dallas Fort Worth airport. When they say it’s not all about the destination, this is extremely true on the drive here. I loved driving from the sights of tall high rise metropolitan buildings in Dallas to the extreme wilderness. On route there are ranches, horses, fields and hills for miles. Right before you get to the ranch, there is a little town and it is exactly like a western movie set. I drove about 5 miles through this town as I was in disbelief. Enjoy the journey!
